Schaffhausen Institute of Technology (SIT) acquires Propulsion Academy
by Daniela Meier
Schaffhausen Institute of Technology (SIT) acquires Zurich-based Propulsion Academy to further extend its reach as a technology education provider for professionals.
Propulsion Academy will change its name to SIT Academy and continue to offer its successful career boot camps, part-time and full-time courses, significantly expanding its offering to both individuals and companies in the coming months.
The acquisition is a big win for the parties involved and the educational landscape in Switzerland and abroad. With digitalization in full swing, there are not enough practical and industry-focused training options on the market. SIT Academy will fill this gap to nurture the next generations of IT professionals. The SIT ecosystem of companies, partners, and industry experts will support the growth of SIT Academy in Switzerland and other strategic locations throughout Europe and Asia. To extend its international reach in 2022, Propulsion will open campuses in Munich and Singapore to have 2,000+ graduates per year by 2025, all campuses combined. Propulsion also plans to have more than 100 staff members ready to serve its increasing number of students.
“Together, we’re stronger!” says Laurent Meyer, CEO of Propulsion Academy. “That became obvious when we first started our discussions with the SIT team to join forces. Along with its extensive ecosystem, including the prestigious Master’s program in Computer Science, SIT now can offer technology education options to the general public thanks to Propulsion’s popular boot camps and short courses on the industry’s hottest topics.”
These opportunities will arise thanks to the SIT extensive network of companies, including SIT Campus, SIT StartGarden, SIT Autonomous, SIT Capital, SIT Alemira, SIT Rolos, and recent partnership with Jacobs University Bremen and will drive interdisciplinary science, technology and education in Europe and beyond.
"SIT focuses on developing knowledge through science. Entrepreneurs need specific knowledge and skill, and it is proven that practical boot camps, part-time and full-time courses are efficient practices. SIT will develop Propulsion Academy under SIT Academy brand to increase the quality of entrepreneurial and professional education and integration between education, science and business", says Serg Bell, Founder of SIT and Chairman of the Board, Founder of Acronis
